    Summary

When he had presented, it had been his first failure, the first of many disappointments. Because he hadn’t been the Alpha his dad had wanted him to be. Because he couldn’t even be a Beta.

Not even his success, his dedication, his love for racing had been able to make up for it. Not for his dad, anyway.

Because Omegas don’t win. Omegas don’t become Formula One drivers. Omegas aren’t World Champions.

Omegas don’t even belong on track. They never have. Despite everything, they never will.

Even after Seb. Even after Charles. Even after—

    Even after Max.

Or, Max should have been an Alpha—needs to be, really. He isn’t. (No one can ever find out.)

I really love this one. I've never been against Omegaverse- I do enjoy it, actually- but as an Aroace person, it often... rubs me the wrong way, I guess. Fics like these are always really, really fascinating to me, because they're willing to explore the social and psychological implications (and I mean actually- I've seen one too many a fic that simply labels Omegas as "poor little babies who are mistreated for their secondary sex but also need an Alpha and can't defend themselves :(((" and they- eugh, whatever) of it all. I really appreciate the fact that there is no "end goal ship" in this too, because these aren't the fics for those kinds of stories.

I dunno, all this to say that this is wonderfully written, thank you.

Logan misses signing, misses 'talking' across board rooms and being able to read expressions so easily. He hates how much he has to use his voice, hates how quickly he gets left behind in conversations when he's having bad days, hates that whenever he musters the courage to ask Williams if he can use his interpreter, half the time they're don't even reply.

That being said, Logan likes teaching his language to those who want to learn, and far more do than Logan expects.

Or, five times Logan teaches someone on the 2023 formula one grid ASL, five times someone signs back to Logan, and two times people sign to him without Logan having to teach them.

I love how honest this is. How it isn’t perfect—definitely not a move in the wrong direction, but still flawed. I don’t know, this one really spoke (apologies, unintended pun) to me.

"I was in incredible awe of him. I was fascinated by him. I think it was sexual to an extent, but I had no idea or any understanding of affection between men. I really gave him hero worship, and I recognised later what it was, but the feeling then was that I couldn't wait to just get near him... It was only years later that I understood I was incredibly in love with him."- Sal Mineo

So, so, *so* good. I’m not always for 2nd POV, but this was an excellent execution of it. (It works when it works!) i really don’t think I have anything to add to this—I really enjoyed it, and I’ll probably look at their other works too.
