    Summary

A week after escaping from Koboh, Cal comes to Greez with a truth none of them want to acknowledge: they need to head back through the Abyss on a supply run. Sitting between them is Cal's Fall, and questions as to what the future will hold.
    ~
Greez was on his feet before the intention properly registered, a hand reached towards Cal in desperation. ‘Because it’s true, Cal! You remember what I said, about this being a rigged game? Just because you think you hold the cards now, it doesn’t mean your luck’s gonna turn!’ Cal didn’t respond, just kept cleaning the blaster, hand moving up and down across the barrel in a motion that would have been soothing if it wasn’t so damned infuriating.

A sequel to my other work, 'gravitationally bound; a single object to any casual observer', but can be read alone! Summary for anyone who hasn’t read part one inside.

    Summary

This is the second installment in the Always Red series.

You are an ex-Jedi traveling with ex-Inquisitor Cal Kestis on a road of murder and mayhem in this Fallen Order AU. What's the difference between justice and revenge? You and your crew walk the fine line of it and together you grow and change for better and worse.

"Clouds of red dust fill the air when the Pursuit touches down. The sun is setting and in every direction the world is lit up in your favorite color. As you connect with the ground for the first time you feel that this is a place you have visited many times in your dreams. Strength and connectivity move up through the sole of your boot and spreads in your body like a fresh breath, filling you with a relief you hadn't known you were in need of. It's a feeling of returning even when you've never been to Dathomir before today. Coupled with the wave of comfort is the slight hum of a headache blossoming in your skull...or is it nausea in your stomach?

“Can you feel that?” Cal asks with a mighty exhale. “The dark side is strong here.”

    Summary

You ever wonder what it would be like if Inquisitor Cal acted like both Valeska twins? … Yeah me neither.

“You know, I was trying to kill you before. What am I saying? That's obvious.” He taps his chin with a gloved finger. “But after hunting you all day I see the situation more clearly. What better way is there to get to know someone, am I right?” The way he levels his intense gaze at you chills you more deeply than the biting wind and rain.

“You're going to make a perfect Inquisitor.” He ignores your deep grimace and continues unbidden.
“All I have to do is get you in the chair.”

You've heard enough. A shaft of bright yellow light comes between you when you ignite your lightsaber. He cracks his neck from side to side and bounces in place on the balls of his feet. The wide grin melts off his face and his lip curls with a fuming intensity.

“And I will, Y/N, … get you.” He licks his lips. “You don't even know that you're already mine.”

“We'll see.” is all you manage to reply as you both crouch into fighting positions and both ends of his saber extend from the hilt."

    Summary

Cal stares at himself, his reflection staring back. Is it blinking in time with him? Breathing in sync? He swears he sees it blink when he knows he doesn’t. Experimenting, Cal forces a smile onto his lips. The reflection mimics him, a nanosecond off.

In a strange temple, Cal comes face to face with another version of himself.

    Summary

Day 22: Sacrifice, for chaos-company’s 2025 Angstpril event.

The previous fic is Cal and Merrin being genre-savvy enough to notice that they're in what would be anyone else's bad ending. Unfortunately, 'the bad ending' for Jedi Survivor is much, much more painful, and it comes with keeping oaths, lightsaber sparring, near-broken knees, and a missing-assumed-dead Jedi Knight.

Cal nodded and stepped closer to her, holding out one hand in a gesture Merrin had recently learned was a handshake.

“Let’s just swear that if it comes to it…” He paused, then shrugged. “We’re the ones to do it. No one else suffers, no one else feels guilty. Not Cere, or Greez, or anyone else who knows you or me. No one carries it but us.”

Merrin met his eyes. They were alight with quiet determination, the kind she’d seen when he destroyed the holocron.

She gripped his hand in hers, warm in the gentle sun of Bogano, and shook it once.

“No one but us. I swear it.”
