He had found a time travel spell. Alastor had found a spell to fix it all! If he could go back, even to a month before Vox’s hysteria, or even to when he joined the hotel- He could manage during or before his sabbatical too.
Alastor didn’t care about the footnotes, the consequences, the punishment. He just needed the spell.
He casted it immediately, and the remaining power in Hell all poured into it. The feeling of his powers zapping away and into the spell was a relief.
Reality twists at his command, and he was sent back in time.

Obi-Wan froze in place the moment he looked up. His eyes observed the large statues one by one.
Plo Koon, Mace Windu, Kit Fisto– they were all Councillors during the War.
Obi-Wan stood in front of the statues as tears welled up in his eyes. He hadn’t seen them in a long time and these statues looked exactly like them. From facial features and expression down to the way they were seated– as if they were in a regular Council meeting.
“Look Uncle Ben! It’s–” Obi-Wan leaped to Luke and covered his mouth before he could say anything else.
“Yes, I see, it’s General Kenobi.” He hoped the beings whose attention was drawn towards them would move on quickly. “But try not to shout, Luke, alright?”
His eyes left the boy to observe the statue of himself.

Alastor lets Vincent catch his breath, as the two stare down at the bloody, mangled body.
“Well,” Alastor says, “the important thing is that you did not overreact.”
Vincent turns to look up at Alastor, still sunken on his knees and with spatters of blood like tiny rubies across porcelain white skin.
“Alastor,” Vincent makes out, as if it’s the first word he has ever spoken. The broken syllables spoken in a whisper— so afraid to shatter this moment between them.
Alastor has made a living off talking, and impressed the masses with his expansive vocabulary and razor-sharp wit, but here, now, Vincent looks up at Alastor like a disciple to a god— and Alastor is speechless.
Hell, unknown
Alastor halts for a moment to select his words carefully. He isn’t good. He isn’t pain free and careless. He's hardly enjoying Hell. “I am... better now.”
Vincent’s disappointment is clear. “But you’ve been here for years.”
“It hurts all the same, Vincent,” Alastor mumbles, closing his eyes. “But this isn’t Hell anymore. Not to me. It is simply… where we are. Where you are.”

This is a reimagining of Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Besides being a reimagining, it's also a composite of different mystery stories and movies that I loved, so don't be surprised if some of the cases or puzzles look familiar. Vox is well-loved and respected in his community, which is great for getting away with unethical and highly illegal scientific research for personal gratification via human experimentation, but it's getting boring. So when he's offered relocation from the Midwest to New Orleans, he takes the opportunity to integrate himself into a new place, to insulate himself as he establishes hunting grounds outside his new community.
He's not expecting to meet the meanest man he's ever met in his entire life, one who absolutely despises him. Vox immediately falls in love and makes things worse by pulling pigtails to get attention. Nothing works to change the dynamic, until Alastor finds Vox trying to dispose of a dead body deep in the bayou and stays around instead of running away. They bond over their mutual interest.
They bond quite a bit over it.
There's a ton of bonding, really. And some plot and killing, but it's a lot of sex—I mean bonding—and sociopaths falling in love.
