'Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold — a metaphor for embracing your flaws and imperfections.'
He decided to visit the National Gallery and went into an exhibition of Japanese art. He stood there quietly and wondered why people had taken the effort to repair broken objects. He admired the gold lines and had to admit that there was something endearing to it. There was beauty in broken things, some things perhaps.
He wondered if broken people would be able to have their cracks repaired like pieces of pottery. He shook his head at his thought and just realised that it was perhaps for other people and not him. He felt as if he had been much too damaged over the years. There was a quality about him that he disliked about himself, a coldness that made him unlovable or unable to be considered to be a normal person. He had temporarily forgotten about it until this morning.
