He was convinced that the idea of a quirkless hero was simply Ludicrous. Suicidal. Unrealistic. God knows how many times he himself said that he gave up on the matter... Yet a certain someone refused to accept his excuses.
"You can be a Hero, Yami. I know you can!" Sparkling ruby eyes fervently believed for ten years, stubbornly repeating it like a broken record.
"Yami and I are gonna be the best heroes ever!" Spiky sandy blond hair proudly declared to everyone, disregarding any discouragement thrown his way.
"You're quirkless, so what? Quirks are no prerequisite to be a Hero!" Wide smile with canine-like fangs, overflowing with ridiculous confidence.
His loud friend remained, cheering him on with all the energy of a supernova. His passion reignited, powered by spite, grudges, and the tiniest of hope. His wilting childhood hero stuck around, unintentionally pissing him off with his bullcrap.
Akatani "Yamikumo" Mikumo was not expecting his life to turn like this.

By all accounts, he doesn’t have to do this. He really, really doesn’t have to do this. But he does want to do this, so here he is. Stuck by his lonesome in the Home Ec. kitchen he borrowed through the principal, baking.
His first attempt? A disaster. The batter was too thick, and the pastry came out looking like deformed pancakes. Second attempt? Worse. He got distracted by imagining Seimei’s reaction, and the little butter cake managed to turn rock-solid that he could kill a man with them. Third attempt? Burnt to hell and back, he might as well feed Seimei charcoal and his dignity would survive better.
After way too many hours, he finally pulls out a tray with a content that looks and smells edible.
All that’s left is actually giving them.
…easier said than done.
