Bob doesn't always know what to say, but he can do his best. So he launches the blanket up in the air and sinks down, letting the duvet settle over them like a shield. Something he used to do when he was a kid, a way to stave off the shouting, the bangs and crashes.
"What are you doing?" Bucky rumbles, but he stays put even as Bob scoots forward so their legs are pressed up against each other.
"This is a magical blanket," He says, the same words he would say to himself as a boy, "Nothing bad can get in."
~ Or the one in which a single conversation about lava lamps makes all the difference in the world.

Summary
As Bob settles into his new life as one of the New Avengers (or, at least, their roommate), he fears that he's slipping into another depressive episode. Even worse, he fears that if he does slip up, he'll once again leave himself, his friends, and the whole city vulnerable to the Void. But when Bucky comes home to find him in day-old pajamas, eating a bowl of soggy cereal by himself, Bob's also left to confront his feelings for the one "roommate" that he knows little about--but whom he's had a crush on for a long, long time.

Bob has finally settled into his life in Avengers tower. His highs and lows are mostly under control with help from his new meds, therapy, and his found family of dysfunctional superheroes. His life, for the first time in a very long time, is good. Not too complicated.
Until he spends more time with Bucky Barnes. And his developing feelings make things very, very complicated.
