    Summary

She shrugs; the tug, the stiff scar tissue of her left shoulderblade, is harder to tune out right now. Gingerly she turns his hand over. The flame alchemy array carved into his skin is almost unrecognizable - bisected, maimed by stitches, pulled back together so that its edges no longer line up neatly. Inert.
Hawkeye sighs through her nose. Sir, she could say - but no one is especially happy to hear her talk these days. Something about aggravating her healing throat. Something about the look on Mustang's face as he watches the bandages flex around her frail voice.
So she sighs, and she raises her eyebrows, and - mercifully - he chuckles.

"The one thing worse than death is to avert your eyes from it. Look straight at the people you kill, don't take your eyes off them for a second. And don't ever forget them - because I promise that they wont forget you."
Riza is still looking back. Mustang? Mustang is looking at her.

“Is that who I think it is?” Riza spun in her stool to see Maes Hughes towering over them with an obnoxious smile. “Didn’t you have a birthday party to attend? Is this the lucky birthday boy?”
To her horror, Ian stood from his chair to greet Maes with a handshake. “Not exactly. Major Ian Davies, friend of the birthday girl.”
Riza slid from her seat to stand beside Ian. “Is the rest of the unit here?”
“They left around 1:30. Roy stayed out with me.” He looked smug.
Ian looked interested to hear that. “Colonel Roy Mustang?”
“In the flesh,” responded her Colonel as he came up behind Hughes.
Riza made eye contact with him. He looked stunned to see her standing beside the Major. It was clear he hadn’t seen her through the crowd. His jaw ticked slightly when he processed the image standing in front of him.
NOTE: This fic is on the line between teen & mature but I chose to rate it mature to be on the safe side.

    Summary

Bakugou Katsuki wasn't supposed to be in the classical faculty, and Uraraka Ochako wasn't supposed to catch him listening outside her practice room.

He is a singer-songwriter drowning in the pressure of an unwritten album. She is a classical harpist desperately trying to force a spark back into her music. When a wrong turn brings them face-to-face, the friction is instantaneous.

But they are both running out of time, and absolute desperation has a way of rewriting the rules. Because beneath the petty insults and the fierce denial, both of them are beginning to realize that the only cure for their creative paralysis is standing on the other side of the door.
