Summary
It would not be wrong to say that herbivores lived in fear of carnivores: of being hunted down in the dark, of hungry eyes and the flashing of teeth.
It would not be wrong, either, to say that carnivores lived in fear of herbivores: of hasty judgements and false accusations, of ruined lives and dreams turned to ash.
It would be truer, perhaps, to say that most people just did their best to make it through life in one piece, with some happiness and not too many regrets; this is a story about people like that. The real world is complicated, and messy, but things are rarely as black and white as they seem at first glance, and there is plenty of space for a carnivore to exist between the lurking monster and the starving ascetic. Sometimes all you need is a good heart, and sharp fangs, and faith in a better tomorrow.

Summary
30 years ago, the Sublime Beastar put forth a military draft to control healthy male carnivores of sufficient size. The Shishigumi work for Oguma as conscripts for his personal guard. But Louis is about to start working for Horns, and the government insists he takes on a carnivore bodyguard of his own - a 'partner.' Louis bitterly takes on Legosi. Louis and Legosi have to work through their messy, complicated feelings, to figure out how this relationship is actually supposed to work - and also how Louis really feels about carnivores in general.
(TLDR: A hopepunk take on Louis and Legosi dramatically changing society for the better and gaining a whole extended lion family in the process.)

15 years before Louis figured out he loved carnivores, Oguma was still struggling with his own brain. Neurodivergence has him feeling isolated and alone - undiagnosed and unsupported - but Oguma has a lot of love to give anyway. His compassion leads him to help and protect as many people as he can. When he needs a new partner, Ibuki is proposed as the most deserving… even if it’s obvious that the lion has his own struggles…

Summary

But expectations never quite match reality. Inevitably people move on. Time passes. Friendships end.
