Summary
“What the fuck are you doing,” Ratio yells. His voice is loud, even over the pouring rain and the blood rushing in Aventurine’s head.
Aventurine blinks dumbly. His head is still ringing from the gunshot that should have killed him. Ratio is a mess, he notes. The rain has undoubtedly soaked through his thin clothes, but Ratio pays it no mind. He’s panting like he’s just run a marathon and wearing a severe expression Aventurine has never seen before, even when they were pretending to be on opposite sides for his gamble in Penacony.
Aventurine is lonely and tired, and decides it's high time to see his sister again. He's more loved than he realizes.

Xie Lian's frown deepens. He tells him, "Pick a different one soon."

After Xie Lian is tortured in his own temple, he wakes up in the care of a freshly-formed wrath ghost. "Wu Ming" follows him home and, with his carpentry experience, medical knowledge, street smarts, and fighting skills, makes himself indispensable to Xie Lian's family.
To protect Xie Lian from Bai Wuxiang, Wu Ming swears that he'll do whatever he must to get stronger, all the while becoming one more person that Xie Lian couldn't bear to lose.
