Summary
Blood is thicker than water.
Everyone has heard this phrase. Most will never know that it is incomplete.
The full proverb states Blood of the vein/covenant is thicker than water of the womb.
It means that our background alone does not define us, that the family we create - the people we choose to surround ourselves with - will always be more important than the one we were born into. There may be some overlap between the two, but it is the people who stand by us, who fight for us, who heal us, care for us, and share our joys and heartbreaks who are our true family.
This is the story of the Blacks and how a famous baby became theirs. What will happen when Harry Potter and Dudley Dursley are raised by Bellatrix Black?
This story was inspired by “The Foundling”, an abandoned story written by blackholebabey. JKR (and her bad behavior) ran the author off the story, but I was inspired by the incomplete fan fiction to create a similar atmosphere with my own flair. If there are any overlapping scenarios, I will credit the original work at the end of the chapter in which the overlap appears, but I will not recreate anything exactly the same.

“Scared Potter?” Malfoy sneered, and Harry snapped. He was done, finished, fed up with playing the innocent little Gryffindor with no common sense and a microscopic amount of intelligence. He rolled his eyes.

Harry smirked. Lockhart looked entirely bemused, and he thought Snape might be holding back a laugh.
Harry spent his first year hiding his intelligence and playing the role of the Boy Who Lived. However Lockhart and Malfoys' combined presence finally causes him to snap, and chaos ensues from there.
