Summary
Joyce and Hopper are a year into the apocalypse, living in their tiny cabin with their kids (one of who is in hiding) and working long-shift jobs. They rarely get to see each other let alone do anything physical. They never even had the chance to have sex. Ever.
When Hopper tells Joyce his big plan to change their lives for the better, Joyce acts on emotion and decides now is the time to have sex since he is leaving on a dangerous mission.
Everything changes during Hopper’s absence. Hawkins. Time. Their lives. It would be Joyce and Hopper’s luck to conceive a child from the one instance they had sex… during an apocalypse.

Summary
Hopper understood, he always did. He had been in that prison with her after all. Hell, he had had even worse than her, having been held captive for eight months in total, tortured himself and then being forced to watch as they did the same to her. He knew what she felt like, how hurt and confused she was. Yet, when he thought she couldn't see, she noticed him shooting her the same looks that everyone else did. Would he ever be able to look at her the same again, to love her without their shared trauma casting shadows over them?

Joyce and Hopper are home, back in Hawkins with their family. Though that doesn't mean everything's perfect. Vecna is lurking right around the corner and neither of them is really sure how to deal with the events of the last few months.
This is part two to my story "Hold me tight (So I don't break)" that I wrote for Whumptober 2023. I would highly recommend to read that one first for like the entire context of this story.

But oh, how could she not believe it? How could she pretend, that this wasn't the face, she had been dreaming of every night, for the past four months? Hopper was alive. He was here, in front of her, and he was fucking alive. A chocked sob escaped her lips, as she realized the impact of that truth. He had to have been in this godforsaken prison for the last four months, and not once had she looked for him. By the way he looked, they had to have put him through the same torture, she had endured the last week, for four whole months. And it was her fault.

What if the Russians had succeeded in their search for Joyce? Joyce goes through hell and Hopper tries his best to comfort her.
This is my take on Whumptober. But instead of writing a one-shot for each day, I've decided to write just one single story over a few chapters. Each chapter will deal with a few of the prompts (at least one for each day).
