Mildred was certain that her neighbour was a witch. How could she not be? She had a black cat, she had a broom, and a dark cloak, and a tiny, tiny table sized greenhouse on her balcony full of strange plants Mildred had never seen before that she often cut at odd hours of the day and deposited into large, glass jars. Her mother insisted they were just vegetables, but she also insisted that there was no castle upon the mountain (there was, and it was so cool), so Mildred didn’t trust her with that one.
Oh, and another thing; her name was Ms. Hardbroom, and if that wasn’t a witchy name, then Mildred didn’t know what was.
