Summary
The absence of Caine, unfortunately, makes way for something worse. Out of pure desperation, the gang rescues him from deletion in hopes he can save them from being deleted too.
Caine gets another chance to prove himself, though he's not sure he wants to, and he still doesn’t understand how it all went so wrong in the first place.
Nobody really wants to die here. Nobody really has much of a choice on how to make that happen. And certainly, nobody is really happy with their former tormentor(s).
But…any port in a storm, right?

In an alternate timeline, the Bureau for Paranormal Research & Defense exists and as such, a whole lot goes differently.
Simon Petrikov is recruited before the Ice Crown can fully transform him. The Mushroom War is prevented…though its mastermind is still at large. A little half-demon girl is saved from those who'd use her for ill. A bioengineered genius is given purpose rather than needing to make her own. A shapeshifting changeling is along for the ride. And a regular human boy gets the chance to become a hero like he's always dreamed.
Still, it’s hard enough to save one person, let alone the entire world. Minds, bodies, love, freedom, control--everything is at risk when responsibility demands sacrifice. It’s very possible to lose yourself entirely. But there’s friends to be found in even the darkest places, and some people are worth fighting for, especially when they fight for you too.

Summary
Regina refuses to stick to the deal she struck with Rumplestiltskin and instead of giving him a comfortable life, traps him in a cage in a basement, forgotten for years. First of all, DAMN good characterization across the board here. I appreciate the accuracy of maniacal, magic Rumple especially--this author commits to his weird ass energy and it WORKS. A tricky balance to be sure!
Also, I always appreciate a story that keeps me guessing. I never knew where the plot was going to go next and that made for a very fun read. Good stuff, well written, highly reccomend.

Delicious. FINALLY some good fucking Belle characterization.
Really phenomenally written in general tbh. These two are a tricky pairing, lots of potential but easily frustrating--this author takes the potential and runs with it like the goddamn Flash and I am still standing here in the dust, awed. The tension is tragic instead of annoying, and though the end is grim it has a tiny, sincere seed of hope.
