Summary
The captors knew they needed to move now but carrying two Alchemists at once? That would probably be their death sentence. Killing one of them meant losing intel they could have get but it was a risk they had to take.
And Mustang as the older, more capable, more experienced one was the easy choice to get rid of.

Summary
After discovering Shermie's children, Filbrick has put his foot down and prohibited them from the house. He will not tolerate the offsprings not born into a married couple, especially not from teenagers. Sherman has no choice, but to bring the kids to stay with his brother, while he figures out a way around this. Although Ford is a tad busy at the moment, he can't just leave the kids on the streets.
AU where Dipper and Mabel are Shermie's unwanted kids.
