Is it really so different to skate for joy than for obligation? Yes, it turns out.
The rink is cold, empty, and, vitally, silent. The ice is so fresh it’s almost hard to skate on, the sort of ice that makes someone want to fly. Lan Zhan does a quad lutz just for the sake of it, just to prove to himself that he can. He lands it. Of course he does.
