"Stanley Pines’ hands trembled as he punched his twin brother's number into the payphone. He swallowed back the urge to be sick as the orange glow of the streetlight above him bore down like it was watching him, judging him. He would've had a smoke to calm his nerves, but he was almost out of money. Borrowed money he was supposed to pay back to someone already.
He sighed as his stomach betrayed his nerves and growled noisily. He tried talking to himself to drown out the voice in his head that was screaming how he was a fuck up for even having to ask for help. Deep down he knew there was no more room for pride. He was desperate, and there was only one person to turn to.
“Come on, Stan, at the end of the day he's still your brother. He won't bite,” he tried to convince himself as his hand hovered over the last number in the sequence...."What if Stanley never hung up on Ford? AKA Stan Pines crashes at his hermit twin's house in the woods in the middle of Oregon and helps him and his lab partner with nerd research.
