Summary
Xie Lian manages to save a scrap of Wu Ming’s dispersed soul after he is torn apart by the resentful spirits at Lang-er Bay. He becomes determined to help the ghost regain his physical form. After White No-Face's defeat at the hands of the Heavenly Emperor, Xie Lian makes a deal with Jun Wu to adjust his shackle to allow him to use spiritual energy only for the sake of others, and never himself.
Banished and homeless, Xie Lian protects the tiny scrap of soul and dedicates everything he has to pouring energy into helping repair it. The opening of Mount Tonglu seems to be the perfect place to harvest spiritual energy, so Xie Lian decides to enter the barrier and battle thousands of ghosts if it will help restore Wu Ming’s soul.
