Girlfriend. The word lands strangely, thick and sticky.
Nat flinches almost imperceptibly, then smooths herself over with that familiar, practiced inhale. She steps forward.
“Hi,” she says, voice just a shade too rough. She extends her hand toward Lottie like a stranger. “I’m Natalie. It’s nice to meet you.”

Even in person sometimes people are unsure of what to call her. The rugged clothing and stark contrast to Lottie’s hyper feminine style doesn’t really scream 'Miss'. But the smudged eyeliner and relatively short figure don’t necessarily say 'Sir' either.
