“Are you going to spend it with Ellis?”
“I was.”
“She cancelled?”
“I’ll cancel. Toss me my phone?”
“What? No”, Dennis gapes. “I mean, why?”
“I’m being shitty at you, and you’re not even doing anything.”
He frowns and goes get her phone. She takes it and starts typing.
“It’s different. She’s your partner”. And a woman, he doesn’t say.
“You’re my friend.” Her phone receives a text and she types faster, frowning.
“Trin, please—”, she holds a finger up, asking him to be quiet. He gapes, offended, but shuts his mouth.
She types and types, and slowly forgets about tears. Instead, a smile grows wider and wider. Dennis doesn’t know if he should be relieved or scared.
“So,” she says, after sending one last text and putting her phone away. “I have a proposition”.

When Trinity's heat is around the corner, Dennis is sure he'll spend the next week sleeping in the streets. Instead, she finds him a roommate.

You somehow charmed your way into the network-wide holiday party, became friends with the CEO of the entire network which, might I add, owns some of the best hospitals on the East Coast, and you got yourself invited to his holiday vacation cabin.”
“That pretty much sums it up, yeah,” Dennis nodded as he turned away from the desk and headed towards south three and the patient in there waiting on some burn care.
“Right,” Trinity nodded, following him. “So you’re going to be sharing your location with me and texting me regular wellness checks.”
