“Callum, look.” She called, and he walked over from where he was watching Sarai. “I’ve got carpet burn from that beard.” She pointed. “Stache rash, beard burn, whatever you want to call it.”
Callum winced. “Sorry about that.” He felt the end of his beard thoughtfully. “I’ll put some product into it to make it softer. I can ask Soren, I think he’d know.”
“Or you could just shave it.” She crossed her arms across her chest.
Callum sighed. “Do I have to?”
“Didn’t you say you’d do anything for me?” Rayla teased.
“Yeah, but—didn’t you say that you loved everything about me?” He leaned his face closer to her.
“I doooo,” she said. “But that rodent on your upper lip is a separate entity from you and therefore not subject to that.”
Callum’s brows furrowed. “It’s really that bad?”
Rayla didn’t answer even though the answer was clear on her face. Callum looked disheartened, and that made her heart ache, but this had to be dealt with. “Come on, I’ll even do it for you. It'll be fun.”
Callum brightened a bit at that. “Not sure how you could make it ‘fun,' but sure.”
