A silent moment passed, thick and unsettling. Eito’s legs fell slightly forward as Takumi released them from his hold, still staring down at him with that look that he didn’t understand.
“Okay,” Takumi murmured. “Then I’ll hurt you.”

Summary
Crying in front of around Eito was the last thing he wanted, granted not out of any fear of being mocked over it. He liked to think they were past that point by now. It was more out of a fear of making Eito any more uncomfortable than he already had, but it came true as he failed to stop himself.
It was a somber sort of thing, as he cried without any real theatrics. Takumi gazed unblinking at the wall as his tears fell one by one onto his cold, but not cold enough pillow. Though he could manage doing so almost silently, there the odd sniffle he had to muffle with his pillow. There were more sniffles than he'd anticipated and, before he knew it, he found himself trembling as he wept.
"I did mean it," he said in a half-whisper, "I meant it every time because I really did and I think I still do. I just… stopped because I don't need you to love me anymore. I think I've given up on that by now! I— I'm not really sure, but I'll try not to bother you with that anymore." Yet another sniffle. "I just really want my friend back. That's all."

Takumi’s eyes move over him like a swarm of locusts, jittery and confused and perhaps a bit scared. Ah, his eyes… His perfect, blue eyes… Eito could lose himself in those eyes forever, maybe, for days and months and years and centuries and—
“N- No, sorry, I,” Takumi backs up a half-step. “Sorry, um... who are you?”
Eito extends a hand. “Eito Aotsuki,” he says pleasantly, with a perfect smile. “Pleased to make your acquaintance.”
Eito is not a normal person by any stretch of the imagination.

He feels trapped, claustrophobic, like he could, at any point, drown in the mass of pulsating flesh that is Takumi.
Goosebumps ripple all over him, and his head spins, dizzy and distant, and squeezing his eyes shut doesn't change anything, because his world is already as dark as it's going to get. Eito wonders, is this what connection feels like? This strange, frightening, foreign thing mutating into a vibrant chorus in his chest? It feels as though it's going to devour him.
The more terrifying fact is he knows he's going to let it.
Eito bleeds out his hate towards the SDU. Something else must take its place.

They were transfixed by the ebb and flow of the waves, the sand, the night sky, and— frankly— anything but each other. Despite knowing their attention probably should be, it seemed directing it where it belonged was a rather difficult— if near impossible— task.
Of course, something had to give. The two of them were due back at the LDA sooner or later for an inevitable tongue lashing for sneaking out in the dead of night and it wouldn't do to just stand there in silence. So, as would be expected of him, Takumi broke the ice. He slightly turned his head— only slightly, as he was much to bashful for anything else at the moment— and inquired, "Can I, uh, ask what you like about me?"
Eito also turned his head, the corner of his eyes meeting Takumi's for a brief moment. They both straightened themselves out soon after and returned their focus to the shoreline. There was some hesitation but, in a voice that carried not an ounce of bashfulness, Eito answered, "No."
