Summary
I was born the eldest child of Charles zi Britannia, Eighth prince of Britannia, and later Emperor. I was given the world on a silver platter, if only I wished to reach out and take it. It would not have been hard. I would have needed only to indulge in the occasional politicking to secure allies for myself, and grow accustomed to a life of suspicion and intrigue.
But that was never my way. Much as it was never my father’s to be a peaceful ruler. My father’s duties kept him away as much as his own isolated nature, and my mother’s death meant I was often alone. I don’t think that was a bad thing. Because of it, I believe I grew into a much kinder person than I may have otherwise. I could have been cruel. I might even have been Empress, once.
But that was never my nature, and I happen to enjoy my life as it is now far more than if I had gone down that awful path. I fear I would have lost myself, had I remained, and worst of all, I would have never had you.
