The soul hasn't noticed you yet.
It seems like they're disoriented.
A faint melody on piano plays in the distance.
It's slow. Big pauses as if someone forgot what should go next.* Or: crack mixed into serious narrative where Player is a menace, Kris is a dumbass who has no idea how to live with their own autonomy and canonical angst is forgotten in favour of fanfictional angst
* Or: Kris gets to start a New Game for themselves and Player loses most of the control over them. Unfortunately, they have not a single idea what to do about it. They'll try to do something anyway.

You reach the King... and see a lightless mound in front of him... and it looks at you with a darkless eye that seems to spiral inward infinitely. Inside their eye, the same shape that's on the King's armor sits in the center glowing an ominous shade you've never seen before. To think one missed step would end like this. Siffrin is gone... Only Sadness remains.
