Summary
How did he get here? But a few moments ago, he was enjoying a quiet, late lunch alone in the dining hall. Now he was being propositioned for something Joshua should not have knowledge of. Coaxed do to something he wouldn’t dare suggest for the scandal was too great.

Summary
There were few absolute truths Clive had come to know in his sparse years of teenage wisdom. A well placed parry gains more ground than a dodge. Do not allow leathers to linger wet less you want tighter trousers. Nobles best accept advice when they are convinced it was all their idea in the first place.
And little, blond, future-archdukes despised carrots more than anything in all the realms.

Summary
My contribution to the Twin Flames Naughty Secret Santa! A oneshot in which Asta gets an eyeful why Clive is certainly not on the market...and sticks around to enjoy the show.
"Speak, Clive," Joshua ordered, his voice a smooth caress upon the skin. The bound man sighed as if pleased to be addressed and Asta shivered. That's right...Cid's real name. She had almost forgotten it existed. "Tell me, is this enough? Do you think this enough to atone?"
Atone? For what?
The captive shook his head violently and labored to breathe. Still, he found his words and replied brokenly, “Not until you are happy.”

Summary
A feather.
One of Joshua’s priceless feathers fastened onto a strip of opulent leather perfectly sized for his neck. No gift such as this was done frivolously nor without reason. In fact, only one reason jumped to the front of Clive’s reasoning and brought him to cry out, “Joshua, you are asking what I believe you are?”
“I am.” Joshua grounded himself, committed and genuine in his motions as he plucked the choker from its container. Running his thumb across its craftsmanship, he lost himself in a daydream which Clive needed no explanation to see. “It is your birthright and I will see to you are in your proper place. Damn the other lords and damn the court who are too foolish or arrogant to see your worth. To see my partner was born to me under the same roof.”

Summary
...from the corner of his eye, he spotted a glittering aura. Warm, fragile, whispering to him to approach and behold with its glow. He listened, abandoning his task to investigate and as he grew near, its shape revealed itself. A feather.
A phoenix feather.
Clive’s heart jumped though for joy or for fear he could not deduce as when he turned his head towards Joshua’s room, his eyes took in the sight of a sea of kindling light speckling the floor to a door ajar. Joshua’s door.

Summary
Clive should not be here.
This he knew deep in the caverns of his gut, yet he did not heed the shadows sending a chill up his spine. Perhaps he could blame the saccharine perfumes or bass driven music bombarding his senses for his poor judgment. Or he could feign ignorance and a strong steering of curiosity causing him to slip the one hundred gil at the entryway, gaining access to the exclusive venue and earning him his soul object of anonymity.
The mask slotted too comfortably over his face to be natural and beckoned him to join the gathering crowd of identical faces pooling by the stage. A trance, he reasoned, a spell. Anything to excuse what he was here to witness with full motive and premeditation. -

Summary
When all is lost and broken and your heart aches for familiar comfort no longer within reach, sometimes you have to settle for the next best thing.
