Her heart does something funny. Has it stopped beating all together or done a backflip instead? She isn't sure. "Wow, smooth." Lucy huffs out a laugh.
"Come on, I warned you." One side of his mouth pulls up. "I just wanted to state a fact, not flirt with you while your boss is 20 feet away. It's not like I just told you those beautiful honey-brown eyes of yours are to get lost in, right?"

“And if sacrificing a little sleep means making your day a little easier, then I’m happy to do it.” Her smile turned teasing. “Besides, it’s not every day I get to be the one saving your ass.”
“I'm not sure I'd go that far.”
