Summary
Hitoshi can't remember a time before the pain and terror, crushing him into a form he hardly recognizes anymore. His body hurts, but even more so does his soul. He's given up on thinking he'll ever feel anything less than the empty, piercing ache behind his ribs even as feeling any sort of hope hurts him more than he can bear.
Shouta fights the panic at seeing his kids' faces everyday, the need to keep them safe nearly overwhelming, but when he's alone, his instincts nearly drive him to madness. He would have the world believe him a cold, distant man. But in reality, Shouta would give much to have someone to care for; he can only coddle his students so much.
