In the best of circumstances, Shang Qinghua wouldn’t have to be cursing all the choices that Luo Binghe makes, except Luo Binghe’s every move as the venerated ruler of the realm is so carefully observed and emulated by all the other demons.
Luo Binghe takes a male consort? The demons watch and learn.
Luo Binghe’s consort is a human cultivator? The demons are taking notes.
Luo Binghe’s human consort is a Cang Qiong Peak Lord? The demons are frantically making checklists that would determine one’s suitability to be a consort, and guess who ticks all the boxes.

“Marriage?” His voice breaks over the word like it’s a curse. “Really? Doesn’t it feel a bit irrational?”
“Are you planning to pay off an eight-figure debt with this job and a host job?” Mobei Jun asks, and Shang Qinghua almost wants to throttle him. Though, if his wallet didn’t have a direct funnel to his dad’s bank account, Shang Qinghua might actually have been a little comfortable.
“That’s not what I meant!” Shang Qinghua huffs, his head still spinning. As far as being a married man goes, Shang Qinghua is nowhere near ready.
“What?” Mobei Jun raises a single eyebrow. “Were you looking to marry for love?”

It starts small.
An ever-so-slight lean into Galo’s side when they’re standing next to each other, looking at the chore assignments for the week in the Burning Rescue headquarters. The barest brush of cold fingertips against a bright orange jacket hem. Sitting a little closer than usual on the couch in the rec room. Resting on Galo’s back a little more than necessary when Galo gives him a ride on the back of his motorcycle after work.
Lio is always freezing. Galo is always warm. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out the rest.

Then he looks back to his own, glancing at Galo Thymos and Lio Fotia as if he’s seeing it for the first time.
