Prompt Fill: Buddie Month January 2025: Midnight & 9-1-1 Bingo: Round 4 - Waking Up From A Coma
Things don't go exactly as planned when Eddie gets to Texas. He has a Near Death Experience about it on the way to pick Chris up from school.
OR
Helena and Ramon refuse to tell Buck or anyone from the 118 that Eddie has been placed in a medically induced coma after a car accident. For the first time, Chris begins to see through his grandmothers lies.
Through a school project about PTSD Chris learns a lot about himself, Buck, and his father.
Buck gets a call at midnight from a very upset Chris. He catches the first flight into El Paso he can find.

Summary
‘They’re gonna need you.’ One of the last things Bobby ever said to him. And, no matter what, Buck was going to take care of everyone… one last chance to make Bobby proud.
Pushing aside his own grief, Buck is determined to be the support everyone needs. Hen, Chim, Ravi, Athena, Eddie… they all need him to be strong and hold it together so that’s what Buck is gonna do.
This is a rewrite of episode 8x16 and how I wish the episode had played out. There were too many issues with the episode: more time spent on the subplot than dealing with the crews’ grief, the fact Eddie was nowhere to be seen until the funeral, the way Buck barely showed any grief over losing an important person in his life.
So, this is my version of what I would like to have seen. This story will show Buck trying to hold it together for everyone else but finding it harder to do so as the days go by.
There will be snips from the episode as there were some good moments in there but hopefully this will give Bobby a send off he deserved.
