Suddenly, Itachi’s eyes opened and they were focused on Sasuke with an intensity that made Sasuke feel naked and exposed. Completely vulnerable. “Sasuke,” Itachi drawled in a tone that felt—it sparked a desperation in Sasuke’s belly. Danger.
“A-Aniki...” Sasuke mumbled, trying to look away from his brother. But he couldn’t. And then—suddenly, everything was shrouded in darkness, his vision blurry around the edges. It could only mean one thing. Genjutsu. “Aniki!” He yelled into the abyss, a little belligerently. “That’s not fair, I didn’t even have a chance to--!”
Before Sasuke could comprehend what was happening, he felt a hand on his shoulder, and whipped around to face red, spinning eyes. “Otouto,” Itachi said slowly, his voice low, dangerous. “You should always be at the ready.”
Sasuke felt his cheeks warm. Itachi was so close, his hand was on his shoulder, and lately, Itachi had avoided touching him. Sasuke hadn’t realized just how touch-starved he was for his brother. Was it so wrong?
Of course, it was. But Sasuke didn’t care.
