When she finally found the courage to raise her head, untucking it from her neck like a turtle pulling away from its shell, she saw a girl around her age at the top of the yellow slide that served as the park’s centerpiece. Her eyes were shut, completely at ease with the world around her, and a blissful smile curled at the edges of her lips. As the score lay scattered and forgotten at her feet - or maybe, it had already been carried away with the spring breeze to a place even more unreachable - Mafuyu thought it would be cruel to define her with just a single word.
Even crueler, though, was not calling the view in front of her what it was. It was unmistakably beautiful, and with parted lips and widened eyes, Mafuyu was sure that her expression showed it.
