After a week of watching Jack while Sam goes on a solo hunt, Dean is ready for a break. Don’t get him wrong, he loves spending time with Jack and Cas, they’re easily two of his favorite beings in the world. But after a certain, late-night incident disrupts Dean and Cas’s love life, Dean is desperate for his brother to take the nephilim off their hands for an evening so he and his angel can share a few drinks and rekindle their romance. As luck would have it, Sam is too worn out after his hunt to watch Jack right away, meaning date night seems to be out of the question for Dean and Cas. Thankfully, Dean has the determination and vivid imagination he needs to bring date night to them. All he has to do is think a little outside the bar...

“Oh my God,” Sam mutters.
“What is it?” Dean asks, staring wide-eyed at him. “Is it like...a lost book of the Bible?
“Worse,” Sam replies quietly.
“Worse? What—what do you mean, worse?”
“It’s Cas’s diary...”When Dean goes to retrieve some books from Cas's room, he finds one he's never seen before. Upon learning what his newest discovery is, Dean knows that he should put it back, but curiosity gets the better of him. After all, Cas is an angel of the Lord. What could he possibly have to write about in a diary?
The answer to that particular question ends up being way more than Dean originally bargained for...

The first thing Dean notices seems so little, so inconsequential that he nearly doesn't spot it in the first place. The second thing Dean notices, he discovers completely by accident. The third thing that catches Dean's attention happens in the last place he would have expected...
Dean's not a young man anymore. He's in his forties now, and he can accept that. As for Cas? The angel still looks exactly the way he did when Dean first laid eyes on him all those years ago. As a whole, Heaven was still rather hazy to Crowley. Part of being among the Fallen, he figured, not being able to remember the details of his home as an angel. He could remember certain things, though. He remembered creating galaxies upon galaxies, full of beautiful stars and expansive nebulas, letting his imagination roam free. He realized much later that was probably why he had been chosen for the job. Even among angels, a good imagination was hard to come by.
He knew he hadn’t been alone in his work, he’d gotten glimpses of another presence with him, watching as his hands delicately crafted entire star systems. Maybe it was a particular angel...
Or rather, Crowley's memories of Heaven come flooding back at perhaps the most inopportune of moments.

Summary
Aziraphale didn’t care what Crowley wore to the beach. If he wanted to wear nothing but a speedo—and that was putting it delicately—then that was Crowley’s choice. The angel didn’t mind that all the beach goers that afternoon got to see nearly as much of Crowley as he did. What did bother Aziraphale was the fact that Crowley suddenly seemed rather self-conscious about his choice in swimwear. It made no sense, Aziraphale thought, it showed off Crowley’s freckled skin quite nicely…
Or rather, in which Crowley gets teased about his freckles and Aziraphale shows his demon how much he loves them.

Crowley wants to be in this moment forever. And then he is. The sound of footsteps is cut off abruptly and everything—inactive as it was before—is eerily still. It takes more concentration than Crowley may be able to spare, but he holds it for now. Aziraphale notices the change in their surroundings and looks up at him.

Saying "I love you," for the first time is never easy, particularly for a certain angel and demon. This is a brief telling of their "I love you" story, as inspired by and featuring the song lyrics of "When They Fight, They Fight" by Generationals.
