    Summary

Harry finds a better life with the basilisk, but that doesn't mean it's easy. From inter-being feuds, to bloody prophecies, to elven unrest, Harry is in the eye of a hurricane that will change the wizarding world forever.

Involving thestrals, merfolk, house elves, centaurs, acromantulae, and various other friends, denizens, and allies.

This series is: Queer in a multitude of ways. Morally complex. A massively canon-divergent AU. Filled with oc's and non-oc's. A story about relationships, love, trust, friendship, healing ... and revolution.

There are seven novel-length fics, plus a prologue (to leap and love the fall) and two longer stories (with courage unyielding and the gentle sunlight). The short story collection to journey on contains shorter stories set within the main timeline. All are posted in the correct reading order.

    Works: 1-9
Ranking: 4/5 – more accurately it fluctuates between 4.5 and 3.

Comments: Quality can vary sometimes. The beginning was so good that I kinda pulled an all-nighter. But after things settle down it becomes more slice of life-y and then it begins fluctuating between events of interest and slogs. Also I'm super disappointed Harry never told Snape and Dumbledore about him living with the basilisk. I was looking forward to that.

Summary: Harry meets a snake and it takes him to the Basilisk under Hogwarts. This happens when he's 8-10ish. Everyone in the wizarding world thinks he's dead since he kind of just disappeared from the Dursleys one day. He stays hidden by using the tunnels under Hogwarts. He makes friends with the elves, the merfolk in the lake, the acromantulae and the centuars in the forest, a pair of demiguises in the deep forest, and eventually the students in hogwarts.

A more thorough account of things (albeit a little out of order), he makes friends with an elf named Limmy and her family. He learns about the oppression of magical creatures. He teaches her wizard magic and she elf magic to him.

He stumbles into acromantulae territory and gets captured. He tells them about how the basilisk was actually cursed by Tom Riddle and didn't serve him wilfully. In doing so ends a 50 year long feud (that the basilisk didn't even know it had with them). He is designated as emissary for the purpose of corrospendance between the acromantulae and the basilisk.

He befriends a merfolk named Ava in the nearby lake and her family. He is dared to go into their capital city (which is super duper off limits to humans) by her and gets imprisoned for it. He is let go on the premise of re-facilitating trade between them and the acromantulae.

Then he meets the centaur band which are quite hostile to him at first. But with the leader of the band being accepting towards him he's allowed to enter their village. But what really seals the deal is him being heartkin with Araeo, child of the leaders. When he holds hands with Araeo their hearts beat in lockstep and their emotions feed off of one another.

He begins attending Hogwarts to learn how to break the curse, set by Tom Riddle, that's keeping the basilisk's eggs from hatching. He eventually does so.

He asks the sorting hat to send him to Slytherin. The people there aren't all inherently jerks just ignorant kids that're taught the wrong values. He helps them see the flaws in their world views and eventually Draco becomes his friend in earnest and runs away from his father.

He and Limmy break the stone holding the elves to Hogwarts and helps them relocate to the fae in the deep forest. All the other elves all across the country also make attempts of their own. This spirals out into a huge societal divide which eventually ends into a rights reform for sapient magical species.

Also Voldemort gets his soul sucked into a tree and dies. Fun!

He doesn't think much of it, that is, until he has a nightmare. Until he remembers his Mom is alone at home.

    Chapter 17/?
    Rating: 3.5
Comments: The prose is fairly proficient though and I really enjoy him discovering new things about his body. In the beginning Cesar genuinely felt overwhelmed and horrified with each new aspect he had to grapple with. So I'm not actually sure why this isn't a 4/5 for me. Too much drama between characters and not enough main story progression? Maybe because it feels hopeless, for every two steps forward they take one back? idk.

Cesar is attacked by an alternate. The alternate kills his mom and kill him, but not before Cesar can stab it in the eye with his knife. Eyes are the weak point of alternates as they're the window to the soul.

Cesar takes a while to figure out his alternate powers and still is. Let's see, what we know so far... Alternates feed on fear. Which means that they can only feed on the living / very recently dead. Alternates can't be killed they can only be sent to the back of the waiting line. There are only two ways of doing this: you do massive damage to its eyes or you destroy its body so thoroughly it can never reform.

Alternates can see the hearts of living things through any object at any distance. This is how they recognize other alternates. Other alternates have eyes not hearts. They rules, a first come first serve type of thing which minimizes disputes over 'claims' (people).

Alternates can speak through nearby speakers and are drawn to certain types of cassette tapes. It's what's on the tape that draws them when its played but they're still not sure what about it.

Cesar is bit different than other alternates though. He has a heart like a person instead of eyes like an alternate. That's because instead of using his body for 'support' he used his soul instead. That's why he still has all his memories and isn't just some monster. Truly a first of his kind.

Cesar stays with Mark for a while but when the police find his body and track him down there they have a chat. Cesar gives them some information and they give him a police radio and let him go. They stop by Mark's parents in Bythorne and they promptly boot him from the family.

They make the drive back down to Mandela County (where they started) and stay with their estranged Uncle Dave who they booted from the family for being a bit too gay. Uncle Dave has a tech shop, a shot gun, and a freezer full of tatertots.

Cesar can't deal with eating humans or torturing animals so using the police radio he has, together with Mark and Uncle Dave, they go and hunt alternates. Funny thing is the police ignore alternate calls and don't do anything. Simply because they can't. Sending in people to try and kill one would just lead to more needless deaths.

Latest chapters have Cesar going into the forest with a cassette tape to lure out alternates. He encounters the alternate that killed him and he his flayed alive. Cue recovering from torture arc.

    Summary

Last night, they went to bed in their dorms.

This morning, they woke up in either A) an abandoned building, B) unfamiliar apartments with unfamiliar school uniforms, C) a plush bedroom nicer than their entire house... or D) the League of Villains' headquarters, because of COURSE Izuku still manages to draw the shortest straw even when others are screwed over too.

UA tries its best to prepare its students for anything, but one topic it never covered: what to do if you wake up in an alternate dimension. Six students suddenly find themselves in an unfamiliar world where the balance between Heroes and Villains is more unstable than ever and they have no idea how they got there or to get home. All they know is that this world is horribly wrong, and they're largely on their own. (Well, except Izuku, but he thinks he'd prefer that.)

    Chapter 27/?
Summary: A lot of class 1-A have been transported to another reality. Canon Izuku is now staying with the LoV and Shigaraki calls him brother. Bakugou and Shinsou are being held captive. Izuku is being helped by another person in the LoV since no one has noticed them yet.

Izuku's (non-biological?) sister (OC), who is with the LoV, has Eraserhead's goggles.

Canon Uraraka is working for her parents' construction company. With the death of All Might and the demolition of UA crime rates have been up and so have job opportunities. Though she has to be careful to keep her quirk a secret. People with good quirks are getting kidnapped off the street all the time. She and Izuku meet by chance in the mall. Uraraka runs away to save Izuku and her parents and teacher (Midnight? A pro hero of some kind if I recall) are looking after her. This teacher recognized Izuku at the mall. Uraraka also happened to encounter Dabi who she's hanging with at the moment of writing.

Canon Jirou and canon Kaminari are acting as vigilantes. They've named themselves something relating to UA/1A to get the attention of anyone else that've been transported.

Canon Shouto woke up next to Dabi. Shouto blasted him ice and sprinted off. It seems he's a villain in this timeline.

Or - "If you knew the truth you'd probably hate me"

As Jax recovers from his panic attack at the Awards Show he discovers an undesired reminder of his emotional turmoil in the form of a multi-colored eye staring right back at him, reminding him of his failure to upkeep the mask he assigned himself. And to make everything worse, Pomni enters the scene.

    Chapters: 15/?

    Rating: 3.5/5
Comments: 4/5 in terms of quality of writing, the plot points, etc. It just... gets a bit slow. Like I feel like this could've been done with less. Also what was up with them saying that Caine was angry? They kept flipping between 'I haven't seen Caine in weeks' and 'You've seen how angry and erratic Caine has been!' How do you know he's acting erratically if you haven't seen him? Huh? And don't say that him being absent is erratic. He gave a good excuse and I'm pretty sure that Zooble says that he has artist's block occasionally (though I might be misremembering that).

Summary: After the events of episode 6, Jax's eye abstracts. And then the rest of him, little piece by little piece. Pomni finds out and she keeps it a secret from the rest. She forces him to confront his flaws, his mask that he puts up.

Jax is stuck in his room in the dark, his senses heightened to the extreme. Pomni and him spend most of their time in there. But every time she leaves he has an episode and abstracts just a bit more. Her presence slows it but doesn't stops it.

Pomni and Jax are both exhausted. Jax from his abstraction and Pomni from the mental stress of dealing with him. Of putting so so much work into someone she isn't even sure can pull through.

And Jax doesn't pull through. In the end he fully abstracts but with Kinger's help as a former developer Kinger manages to create a patch that can pull him back. It was only possible because Jax's abstraction was so unusually slow. He also has code powers now!

Caine is also not to be trusted here. His job is to protect the humans. Abstractions aren't human, and in Caine's eyes neither is Jax. It's even more unnerving that the glitches that plague abstractions bleed over and affect Caine's state of mind. For the weeks that Jax was slowly abstracting Caine was acting erratic. He drops his whacky behavior and even though he doesn't do anything obviously menacing his appearance never fails to make the blood run cold. Though with Jax being fixed that also fixed Caine too.
