Summary
Rapunzel returns from the dark kingdom, still stinging from Cass's betrayal. However, when she returns home, she discovers her parents don't remember her. And worst of all, the Saporians are free. The crew sits in their cell, awaiting Andrews speech. Just then, a familiar racoon scurries into the cell across from them.
Or, in summary. Varian isn't working with the Saporians, but was forced to help them. He works with the crew to save Corona, just to leave them for dead at the last second due to another broken promise. He accidentally meets Cassandra in the woods. Moonstone sibling chao ensues.

Summary
Viktor and Jayce are preparing to show their work to Heigmerdinger, and possibly the world, but first they must run some final tests on the hex tech. Viktor is the first to notice a strange frizzing from on of the stones. To both scientists horror, a sleek black spike erupts from the smooth blue stone. Even worse, is the explosion it results in. As the smoke clears, Jayce can make out an odd silhouette where the core used to be. The outline of a.. teenage boy?
In Corona, Varian holds back tears from his cot. He just wanted to help his dad. Now, he would wither away underground as the horrid black rocks consume all he loves. At these thoughts, said rocks begin to grow out of the floor, glowing a dangerous blue as the race towards him. The boy can't even run due to his bound hands. He closes his eyes, waiting for a blow that never comes. Suddenly, the smell of smoke fills his nostrils and he feels the floor fall from under him.

Summary
Hector was convinced he'd made the right choice; he was doing something good by guarding the Moonstone from any and all who sought its power. It was evil and corruptive, too dangerous to be put in human hands.
Rapunzel was convinced that she had no choice when it came to her destiny. Either she put herself on the line in order to save the world, or the Moonstone's black rocks would chase the power of the Sundrop for eternity, leaving death and destruction in their wake.
But the world is wonderfully complex, and maddeningly gray. The history of the Celestial Drops will not be hidden and twisted forever. When Hector is chosen to be reborn as the Moondrop's human host, he can't escape the overwhelming shame of his failure. And when Rapunzel realizes that she's not ready to die, to leave her friends and family behind for good, she starts to wonder if everything Gothel said about her was true.
