Summary
Keith hates silence.
He was lying on his back, one arm stretched along his side, the other on his stomach. He had ruined everything. He knew he had. He had never been good with people. And now this would cost him one of the few good things he had ever had.
Someone knocked on his door. The sound was soft, hesitant. Keith ignored it. The knocks continued. He was irritated, "Go away."
"Oh..." his blood runs cold when he heard the voice. Lance. "Ok, then, I..."
Keith scrambled off the bed so fast his boot tangled in the blanket, sending him stumbling forward. He barely caught himself on the doorframe before faceplanting, but his fingers were already gripping the edge of the sliding door, wrenching it open. Lance—already turned halfway down the corridor—spun back, eyes wide.
(Relationships aren't easy. But for Lance, Keith thinks it'll always be worth it.)

At this point, Lance could've been the one to answer Allura, and she would've blinked together an explanation for the hand he had on Keith's dick. The team was painfully oblivious, and at first, it had been hot. Sneaking around was part of the appeal.
The buzz kind of faded when the war got serious. Lance wanted to tell the team, and Keith's stupid, beautiful self had said, "Why would they want to know we're fucking?"
It should feel like rejection. They weren't just fucking to Lance. There was no way Keith didn't feel it, that he didn't love Lance back. But over heartbreak and distance, Keith sought Lance out constantly, asking his opinion when it wasn't needed, following him to share their free-time, fucking him soft and slow, making him coffee, asking to stay the night...
And the argument began. Keith and Lance, the fateful rivals, attached at the hip, were not just fucking. They were full-blown in love, like the deep end-it-all kind. It wasn't one sided.
or, Keith thought this was a safe space to avoid emotional attachments. Lance has a ring already. They fuck about it.

Lance, the asshole, just laughed softly and pressed his body closer. “¿Tú también me amas?”
Keith didn’t care. He didn’t care that he couldn’t understand. With Lance acting like this, pressing against him like this, talking like this- Keith would give him anything, it didn’t matter what he was asking.
Softly, so softly, he whispered back. “Yes.”

Summary
Keith and Lance have had an on again, off again, type of relationship throughout their years. From the start of being classmates, to strangers, then companions in arms, to becoming friends, then finally lovers.
Until one day where it ends for good.
Keith throws himself into his work, broken hearted. Runs far enough away to avoid the feelings that chases hot on his heels. Working any and every mission possible, if it meant outrunning the anger and sadness looming overhead. Angry with Lance's choice to quit Voltron, angry with himself for letting him do it. Just overall, angry.
Lance's decision to quit Voltron didn't come lightly. But he wanted out of the limelight, to return to Earth to relax and hide from the hungry eyes of a galaxy that views him as some hero. As some trophy to fawn over. He just wants to blend into the background for once in his life.
The only issue is, Lance's chance at peace was disrupted by a surprise pregnancy, and Keith's choice to run away makes it so he never realizes he has a daughter until years later.
And worst yet, Keith just found out in the worst way possible: told last.

There was so much to say, but he couldn't put into words all the emotions he felt. He knew what he said couldn't be enough, but he was trying. He just needed more time.
He wanted to be able to say everything he felt, but couldn't. Therefore, he did what was best: acting of impulse.
