Summary
This is an outline for a heavy angst fic about WuLian... It's just an outline/ plot summary with no ending, as I assume anyone who wants to use this fic idea should be able to end it as they wish. There will be implied/ referenced noncon, as well as attempted (but failed) self harm, so be warned.
I read a lot of fics in which Xie Lian either is highly toxic to or straight up abusive (dubcon/noncon) towards Wu Ming. While I do think that Hua Cheng would be wholeheartedly willing to forgive Xie Lian for just about anything out of devotion, I have a hard time believing that he wasn't traumatized by Xie Lian's prior treatment of him. I don't think Hua Cheng knows how to have a healthy relationship that isn't either too self-sacrificing or completely codependent. I think it would be nice to have a more realistic portrayal of their relationship after marriage. Hua Cheng could learn how to put his own needs first and set boundaries, while Xie Lian could learn to forgive himself and work hard for the trust he earned back way too easily. (Plus, we need more fluffy SimpLian and soft dom Xie Lian moments, as well as adorably flustered Fafa lol)

“I’ve always dreamed,” Hua Cheng whispers at last, still pressed against his mouth as if Xie Lian’s kiss unlocked his silence, “of dianxia walking me to death’s door and seeing me through himself. How gentle it would be. How good it would feel, dying in dianxia’s arms, knowing I have pleased him.”
[In an elaborate roleplay involving a new skin made to mimic human life, Xie Lian fucks Hua Cheng to death. Of course, Hua Cheng is already dead, but it's the thought that counts.]
