    During a battle, Midoriya gets hit by a villain whose quirk detaches his soul from his body. Stuck in a ghost-like state, the boy enters a race against time in order to save himself from permanently dying. Much to his luck - or lack of it -, the only person who can see and talk to him in this state is no one other than Kacchan.

    Alternatively: Deku and Kacchan are soulbound.

    After a failed suicide attempt, years of bullying, and his mother's death, Izuku Midoriya doesn't think he has any option besides joining the League of Villains. After all, foster care is no place for a quirkless kid like him. Plus, working as a hacker and analyst for the League doesn't sound like it would be too bad. But, after meeting a hurt little girl in Overhaul's headquarters, Toga and Izuku can't just sit back and take orders from Shigaraki anymore. With some careful consideration, Izuku figures a villain reformation program at UA doesn't sound horrible, even if it means having to put up with Bakugou.

    On his list he had already put height, fruit ice cream, dark chocolate chip cookies, noise, people in general ― except for Renee, Wymack, Bee, Abby and maybe Neil ― 80s covers, his eidetic memory and a plethora of other stuff. Because Andrew hated many things at the same time and never stopped.
    He never hated Neil's silence before. There were rare times when he did not speak and spoke without stopping murmuring to himself when he thought that the others were not seeing, now that same silence was killing him.

But after an incident at Eden's, and a specific comment from Andrew, Neil starts wondering if there are several things he hasn't noticed. It leads him on a downward spiral of self-doubt, depression, and his usual martyr-like tendencies that can only have one conclusion. He loves Andrew so he wants him to be happy- even if it's with someone else. So he'll let him go...but only if he asks.

    “You are my only good option. Aaron is straight. Andrew is rabid. Allison and Seth are on and off so often it’s impossible to keep track. Dan and Matt are a couple and getting them both to agree to pretend to date me would be harder. Renee doesn’t like men. Katelyn is lovely but Aaron would be angry. I don’t know which of the others started or stopped dating over the summer. That leaves you."

    “What about Kevin?”

    Jean scoffs. “You cannot be serious.”

    “He’s…” What is Kevin? Not any better at telling Riko ‘no’ than Jean is, and, subsequently, probably not great at lying to him. Also, is it really believable that Kevin would jeopardize the team and their athletic careers by shitting where he eats? Probably not. Kevin’s amended hierarchy of needs just has the word EXY at the base. Somewhere far above that are pedestrian concerns like ‘food’ and ‘water’ and ‘shelter.’

    “Taller,” Neil finishes lamely. “He’s taller.”
