Summary
In less than a week, Gideon would be surrounded at any moment by goggling children and fawning women, and their interactions would consist of Gideon winking at Harrow from over the heads of her entourage as she took endless selfies. It was excruciating to watch, but at the moment, felt preferable to watching Gideon awkwardly scratch her head and ask “How’s stall set-up going?” as if it would ever be possible for the two of them to have a normal conversation.

It’s Harrow’s last year selling bone jewelry at the Dominicus Renaissance Faire before she finishes her PhD. Which means one last summer putting up with Sir Gideon, the obnoxious knight that’s been a thorn in Harrow’s side for the past three years. Except, Harrow made out with her at last year’s end of season party, and things have only gotten more complicated since then.

Summary
Gideon Nav loves the Renaissance Faire. It’s her second home, and during Faire season it is her only home. She had been performing since she was a child all thanks to her parents. A recent high school graduate, Gideon was thrilled to finally work full time at the Faire. She had played minor roles as a knight for the past few years, but getting a major role with lines was her dream.
Then members of a different Faire join Gideon's precious Canaan Faire while theirs is undergoing renovations. The Dominicus Faire is filled with nothing but rich prep school kids, and Gideon's longtime rival Harrowhark Nonagesimus. To make matters worse, this season involves the knights being bound to the actors portraying the king's royal advisors. Which means that a knight and advisor will spend the whole Faire day by each other's sides.

Harrow stared at the golden eyes, her mind filling with a warm buzz and melodic hum. Her brain was a massive generator, constantly writhing and whining, but those beautiful eyes melted through like lava, reducing her to a drooling, staring moron. The glasses were replaced, and the buzzing cut off.
Harrow looked over to Cam who was pulling on her stitching, a nervous habit she supposed. “Wow,” was all she could say.
Cam cocked an eyebrow, the exposed bolt on her neck sparking a bit with the action. “See what we mean? She didn’t even look at you and you were caught by it.”
“What is she?” Harrow asked, her voice returning to its normal ice.
Cam seemed to pause at that. “Gideon is just, incredibly powerful.”

Harrowhark is a vampire, but that’s never been an issue before. Until a group of humans attacked her. Now her parents have decided being in the general public isn’t safe, and they’re sending her to a special boarding school for ghouls. Zombies, gorgons, and more inhabit the halls of Canaan High.
