“Sure,” is the next word out of my mouth and my brain is piecing together new plans. Backups. Redundancies. I can strangle him. Suffocate him in my pillows. Knock him out with the limited hard-cover edition of the works of Kafka. Bash his skull in…and stain my luxury 1200 thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets. Okay. That one’s out of the question. The dry-cleaners would never get the viscera out without bleach.

It was strange, but once I knew his name, I couldn’t stop seeing him around the office. It was like learning a new word and never being able to unhear once you have - he was everywhere he had never been to me before. There wasn’t anything really remarkable about him next to any other guy, but suddenly he was the focal point of any conference room I entered.
After a sizable - and probably long overdue - hit to his ego, Paul Allen runs off to London on a "business trip" to lick his wounds, leaving Patrick and the monotony of Wall Street behind him. For a while, anyways.
