At Pierce & Pierce, everything is controlled, and all the while, still forgettable. Then something slips one night. A late night in a different club with a stranger who doesn’t care who he’s supposed to be.
What begins as curiosity turns into an entire reformation of his life. The version of himself he wears to the office starts to loosen from Wall Street's tight grip. Timothy notices. Patrick tries to retreat. Instead, the distance between them narrows: shared drinks, quiet elevators, hands that almost touch, and words that almost become confessions.
As Patrick drifts further from performance and closer to something real, he finds that the chaos he thought he wanted isn’t what pulls him back. It’s Timothy and the way he sees him, the way he asks him not to pretend, the way he lingers when neither of them knows what this is becoming quite yet.
Patrick Bateman is learning how to exist without rehearsal. The problem is, the closer he gets to honesty, the harder it becomes to keep from saying what he really wants.
