Summary
Regulus hated parties. He hated the heat of too many bodies crammed into a dimly lit house, the sticky residue of spilled drinks on the floor, the way cigarette smoke clung to his clothes. But most of all, he hated the way people stared.
James had begged him to come and Regulus had caved—like he always did when James Potter asked him for something. It was embarrassing, really.
He should’ve known better than to show up in a skirt.
It wasn’t that he wasn’t confident in who he was—he was. But he wasn’t in the mood for the double takes, the leering glances, the whispered questions. He wore skirts because he liked them, because they made him feel sexy, powerful, desirable. But the way some people looked at him, like he was a puzzle they had to solve, made his skin crawl.
James, though. James didn’t look at him like that.
James was currently looking at him like he wanted to devour him whole.
