“Why won’t you touch me Mike?” Will’s eyes look like they’re about to burst full of tears, “You jumped away from me when our hands brushed while I was giving you your drink last week. You walk with at least two feet of space between us. Anytime my arm so much as bumps yours in the middle of a movie you freak out and make up some reason to separate us with a pillow. You look physically annoyed anytime we have to sit next to each other when the whole party is together. I don’t care how many times you tell me everything is fine, clearly it’s not.”
When Mike says nothing in response, tears start to fall from Will’s eyes and he starts to turn and walk away. “Because all I want to do is touch you.” Mike grabs Will's arms and pulls him towards him, Will looks at him like he’s gone insane.
“What?”OR
Mike and Max work at Scoops Ahoy across the food court from Surfer Boy Pizza where Will is working for the summer. Post season 5 finale, it’s the summer before the party heads off to college and all Mike can think about is Will and how there’s absolutely no way he could reciprocate his feelings.

“I can. I’ll stay with Holly,” Mike responds and Will feels one of his fingers brush against Will’s. He looks up at Mike and he sees him pleading with Will to stay with them through his eyes.
As if she can read Mike’s mind, Joyce says, “Will why don’t you stay back with them too, okay? I don’t want you in harm's way.”
“Okay,” Will responds. He feels Mike’s pinky finger touch his again, but this time, Mike wraps it all the way around Will’s and squeezes them together before letting go.
Did Will just imagine that?
Did Mike basically just hold his hand and squeeze it?OR
Picking up at the beginning of episode 7 with a rewrite of the ending and then a small time skip to get our sweet happy ending
