The afterlife was a lot different than Nico expected.
He’d never envisioned pearly gates or angel choirs. Maybe he’d thought more along the lines of wheat fields that stretched into oblivion or falling into an endless chasm for all of eternity. Either way, he wasn’t expecting a lumpy cot with a thin blanket, wooden walls of a cottage he didn’t recognize, and the sound of arguing from the other side of a bedsheet hung up as a makeshift curtain.
