Summary
She knows things will be different in a big city. She will no longer be the only one that doesn’t fit into the cookie cutter standards most people in her home town seem to have no issues squeezing themselves into. She will meet people like her, and she will meet people nothing like her, or her family, or anyone she knows. She's ready to meet people so different, unique, and colourful that her own character pales in comparison. She’s ready to step it up and make sure she doesn’t pale in comparison for too long.

Summary
“Do you two know each other?” Courtney asks, breaking the palpable tension in the room, her Australian accent making her words blur together like always.
Blue eyes meet brown, a question hanging in the air, and Katya decides to be the one who answers, seeing the way Trixie is fiddling with the edges of her sweatshirt. Katya wishes she would just take it off.
“We met at a party, about a month ago.” She answers with a smile and tone that could easily be mistaken for nonchalant, but Trixie knows better.Bookmarked by VonChoke

Summary
Violet calls her the "sad gay goth": always wearing black, keeping to herself, angsting to Lorde, and being an anxious gay mess. Her entire college career involves staying in the background, watching from the outside in, and having crushes on girls that are way out of her league.
Trixie is is the opposite. She is pure sunshine: with her bright smile, intelligence, confidence border-lining arrogance, charisma that has half the school completely in love with her, Katya's crush on Trixie since freshman year is unwavering, despite all her best efforts to move on.
So what happens when they finally get paired up for a class project?

Summary
When it’s her turn to order, Katya feels vaguely nervous. She has to open her mouth and speak to the goddess in front of her, try to form actual words and not make a total fool of herself; it doesn’t feel very likely, right now. She steps closer to the counter, and for the first time their eyes meet. She looks up at Katya, then back down at the register, Katya can see how long her lashes are, then back up again quickly, holds her gaze and a little smile spreads across her face, the corners of her lips turned up. Katya smiles back, glances down; there’s a name label stuck onto her black barista shirt, right next to where the buttons are straining a little across her chest. Her handwriting is neat, the letters big and round, i’s dotted with cute little hearts: Trixie.

Summary
Ru always kept his Cabaret as elegant as possible. Nice furniture, the smell of incense and a bit of alcohol reminded her more of home than her actual home did. And, she wasn’t disappointed. Barstools were neatly pushed in where they weren’t being used. High dining tables scattered the house, with equally high chairs, padded with nice, velvet cushions. Even the stage had a fresh coat of black paint on it, and the curtains had been replaced in the last ten years, she noticed. This was once home to her, she wondered, briefly, why she left.
“… Trixie?”Oh.
Trixie felt her stomach drop to the floor. She faced the bar and the voice that came from behind it.
“Katya. Hey.”

Summary
Katya leaned against a pole that was placed centre-stage, and dropped slowly to the floor, her legs splaying in the most impressive split. Wolf whistles and screaming filled the air, and Katya grinned at her audience. It was at that moment that her eyes caught sight of someone she'd never seen before - her face illuminated by the dancing lights.
She was petite and reminded Katya instantly of a Barbie-doll. She looked sickeningly innocent and sweet, as if she would taste of honey. She was gazing at Katya with wonder, much like the other faces in the crowd, but Katya sensed something different about her - something almost fairy-like. Katya herself became captivated, and she almost - not quite, but almost - forgot to finish her number.
