Summary
What would happen if Will Byers was never found during the events of Stranger Things season 1? How would he survive the upside down? How would the people of Hawkins react?
Will breathed in a ragged breath. Black smoke poured from his mouth as he tore himself free from the wall. He collapsed forward, coughing and gasping on the cold, moist floor.
His heart pounded in his ears as he shakily scrambled to his feet. Eyes darting around the abyss, he started to run. And he ran, and ran, and ran.
His feet pounded on the ground when suddenly he found himself on a familiar path. Finally, something familiar. Will sprinted through the woods, as a feeling of hope filtered its way through the panic. He was getting there, he was gonna be safe, it was finally within reach.
Castle Byers.
The pain in his chest and legs screamed at him to rest, but he couldn't risk stopping. He pushed himself further, calves aching with each step. Suddenly, a loud screech echoed through the air from somewhere up ahead.
Will skidded to a stop as the monster moved on the path ahead. It was in the way, standing between him and safety.- Language:

Summary
"There has gotta be a better way to do this. That was awful," Mike said, turning to Will, voice hoarse and deeper than usual. Will continued rubbing Mike's back as he thought about Mike's words.
Will did know of a better way, but he was certain they shouldn't do it.
"Will?" Mike began, eyes flitting between Will's, causing Will's eyes to snap to his. "What? Is there actually a better way?"
Will hesitated at the inquiry. "Yeah- Yeah, sorry, but we can't do it."
"Why not?" Mike asked, looking confused, keeping his eyes locked onto Will's.
Will averted his eyes. "It might be too weird. It's kinda… intimate?" Will said, making it sound almost like a question.
Mike nodded thoughtfully, thinking about it for a moment before saying, "We can do it anyway, if you want. I don't mind. I trust you, Will."

Max arches a brow. “Carlton, though? You two are dating and you don’t even kiss? Is it just a preference thing?”
Will sighs, resigned. He drops his hands. “Okay. Honestly?” He hesitates, then shrugs. “He was a bad kisser. And I just… couldn’t get excited around him. At all.”
The reaction is immediate and merciless. Dustin makes a dramatic gagging noise. El gasps like she’s been handed gossip gold. Lucas high-fives Max, shaking her hand in his.
Mike doesn’t say anything. He just watches Will, watches the way he shrugs it off, the way he laughs a little too loud, the way his ears go red.
Or, Will's new boyfriend is a bad kisser. Mike thinks it's a crime that no one has kissed Will properly. He's on a goal to change that, Carlton be damned.

"Stop running away, oh my God!" Will was chasing after him this time, clearly out of breath. All this drama over a stupid fucking kiss.
"Don't follow me, I already know you hate me, you've been avoiding me all week." Mike turned the corner, hiding in a room off to the side, making sure to push against the closed door so Will couldn't open it.
"I've been avoiding you? Mike, I've been trying to talk to you all week, YOU'RE the one that keeps running from me!" There was something other than desperation in Will's voice. It felt like anger, an emotion he hadn't heard from Will before. "Open the fucking door, Michael Wheeler, I swear to God, you can't keep running away from this conversation just because you can't deal with your own emotions! Have you ever considered how it makes me feel? You know, the other person in this? You're being so selfish, you think you're protecting yourself when really, youre hurting yourself just as much as you're hurting me and the rest of the party. Have you even thought about how they feel about this-" His voice was getting louder and louder, more and more aggressive.
