He could see his house, but it wasn't his house. "Mommy!" Will shrieked again, holding the rifle to his chest as he looked around, tears running down his face.
Only one thought floated around in Will's head, he had to be dead.

Will's been acting..strange. more distant from Mike, Mike hates this. He doesn't know WHY Will is acting this way or what would make him act this way. Is it vecna? The upside down? Or, something deeper than that, more emotional, more..serious. More personal. Whatever it is, Mike wants to know why and wants to make it stop while also focusing on his failing relationship with eleven. Meanwhile, eleven is focused on her training. Dustin is busy grieving Eddie, Max is in a coma. Still. And Will himself is dealing with everything all at once. From an overbearing and protective mother to his feelings and emotions towards Mike. “...Why not?” Will finally offered, his gaze flitting to look up at the ceiling.
Mike chews on the bottom of his lip. “I mean…Why would you want to deal with it again?”
“Nobody wants to deal with this, Mike,” He stated, voice strong and stern, “...But…After everything that’s happened, and everybody who’s been affected by it…I don’t think we could just leave again…It affects everybody…And we have to stop him.”
Mike felt chills run up his spine.

Not in like, a depressing way or anything. It’s shocking, but even with all that he’s gone through, he’s actually doing alright mentally for once. His connection with Vecna has been silent for months, he’s been spending time with his family and friends, and he has a boyfriend. A boyfriend who he has a three month anniversary celebration with in less than a week, by the way. And don’t get Will wrong, he is extremely excited. How could he not be? He gets to date Mike, the boy who he’s been attached at the hip with since he was five. The only issue is, well, he can’t very much attend their anniversary movie night if he’s, you know, dead.
Will may be mistaken, but he’s pretty sure the demodog that was charging at him should have ripped his insides out about thirty seconds ago.

This is a rework of my prior series with the same title, putting into one story and making it a bit more cohesive and solid.
This is the tale of how a socially-awkward outcast with an in meets a freak. It's a story of finding yourself when the world seems to be tearing you to shreds at every turn. It's making your own family when your bloodline is nearly non-existent and trying to cope when the Upside Down tries to fuck with that. It's figuring out that it's okay to fall apart. Unfortunately, that may also mean that there's no being put back together.
