Summary
Twentieth birthdays were special to the Avgin, and Aventurine is no exception. He may be the only one left, but that doesn't mean he's about to abandon his people's culture and ancient rituals. His journey is simple, return to Sigonia IV, find the old Avgin ritual site in the harshest desert on the planet, and complete the ritual on the night of Kakava.
But going into the desert alone is dangerous, and while Aventurine is fully confident he can handle it just fine, someone else is not so sure- and Aventurine can never turn Ratio down.
So it seems he isn't going alone.
Surely absolutely nothing good could come from dragging his crush through the Sigonian wastelands to partake in ancient Avgin traditions, right?

“Ah.” Digging his fingers into the soft material of Lan Zhan’s spare lounge clothes for comfort, he giggles awkwardly, taking a step towards the bathroom. “Don’t worry, I was just joking with—"
It’s so entirely uncharacteristic, that he’s stunned into silence when Lan Zhan cuts him off mid-sentence, telling him, “You are never an imposition.”
Wei Ying’s anxious gaze snaps up, his heart twisting. Lan Zhan’s brow is furrowed; and the disapproval, combined with the burning intensity he finds there, have his mouth suddenly running dry.
His tongue is heavy. “That’s not really true, Lan Zhan. I can think of many examples—”
Lan Zhan’s eyes flash. “Never to me.” There’s something about the way he says that, a particular finality, which has Wei Ying nervously catching his bottom lip between his teeth, gnawing at it tentatively.
Not breaking away from Lan Zhan’s heavy stare, he exhales unsteadily. “Sure,” his voice is rougher than usual. “Whatever you say, er-gege.”

aka. madam yu is a genuinely horrific person and parent, and wei ying is falling apart — thankfully, lan zhan is there to pick up the pieces.
