He’s spent too many days without him to feel any kind of awkwardness about the bottomless well of feelings he had for that goddamn nerd. He hates him a little now, for filling that pit with more grief than sweetness these days though.
“Oh,” Makoto’s smile turns shy, blush high on his cheeks and ears.
Hah. Kid.
“I never got to have a boyfriend,” he then says, sounding very sour. He kicks a stray stick. “Fucking zombies.”
“Ah, you never tried dating one? I hear they kiss like they wanna eat you.”
The done look Makoto gives him almost tickles a laugh out of him.
“Sorry,” Katsuki amends, patting him on the shoulder, “Fucking zombies.”

Or: Izuku participates in the "hug your family members and get their reaction challenge." Except he keeps doing it, and Katsuki gradually just let's him. Until miscommunication is made and they have to talk about their feelings.
