Summary
Roland woke up with the feeling that he was dying. He coughed and wheezed for what felt like hours, until his gagging ended with whatever was suffocating him heaved onto the sheets. When he finally looked at what had caused him such pain, he found himself with a multitude of white and blue petals, the flowers they’d formed at one point broken by the process that allowed them freedom from Roland’s lungs.
The realization of what this meant took a couple minutes to finally hit Roland’s mind, but once it did his reaction was immediate.

Eleven spies a thin vase filled with flowers amongst the pile of picnic knick-knacks. Pale flowers, like the kind that grew in Cobblestone, and only started to grow again last month.
It might be the nicest thing anyone’s ever done for him.

Summary
Yggdrasil is wilder than people care to remember. When El loses his memory in a bad fight, he follows the sorrowful voice of a Tree that speaks through the strange burning mark on his hand, urging him to hurry. She wants to let him rest, he can tell. She wants to let him relearn these strangers that seem eager to stick by his side.
But there simply isn't time to rebuild the trust and companionship he seems to have lost along with his memories, and he will reach her sooner if he moves alone.
It's too bad that his old friends, strangers though they may be, don't quite agree with this plan.

It all leaves Black with a lot of questions, and maybe all of these iterations are starting to drive him a little insane. Because asking the things that have been sent to kill his crewmates and himself has started to seem like a good idea.

“Am I in the hospital?” He asks. Connor shakes his head. His brows twitch in that way that tells Hank he’s thinking. His LED blinks fast, yellow to red and back to yellow again. He is considering, with the careful way that Connor considers things, what to say next.
“No.” A pause. “You were. You went out to get coffee grounds and a newspaper on April 16th, at 10:22 AM. A bomb planted by an anti-android organization went off as you were leaving the café.”
Hank looks down at himself. At his hands. They look fine, not even a scorched hair. Hardly the skin of someone who was in the hospital over an explosion.

Hank gave in to the urge to bury his face in his hands. This was just… Fuck, he was too innocent looking. Those wide eyes, the soft looking lips. He stared at Hank like he hung the sun and stars, and here Hank was, projecting. Again.
Something brushed his shoulder and Hank couldn’t help but jump. He flinched away and moved his hands, but it was just Connor. It was always just Connor, standing a little too close, probing when Hank was at his worst. Standing at his side with worry in his eyes, staring up at him, and… Fuck.
He was too old for this. He was too old and broken and fucked up to deserve this, but Connor made it too easy to want it anyway.

The abrupt change in subject throws Connor, for a moment. He considers the question, looking down at his hands folded neatly against his knees. He’d removed his usual jacket, somewhat uneasy with what it now symbolizes as a garment, and loosened his tie. Despite his worries that he would be encroaching on Hank’s much valued personal space, he feels what he would call wanted, and content. Isn’t that what relaxed means?
