Summary
As a massive Robbie Burns fan. I was so chuffed to see the characters in Call the Midwife at the end of the 2022CS singing Auld Lang Syne and linking arms correctly with obviously the English introduction of the Hokey Cokey. So I wanted to write a little New Year story for each series of CtM. How hard could that be? Until I decided to start in 1956. There will be another eleven of these, some may be longer than others.

I have been asked a few times now, why the title? As Sister Evie said babies don't slide out like lubricated penguins and her admonishment always reminds me fics don't either.
The stories in this series (so far) presented a challenge in some way or had a difficult birth, but inspite of or maybe because of that, they are among my favourites.So this series will be predominantly non-Turnadette focused, as they have their own series in "Minding the Gaps" .
The latest penguin (chapter 8) features Phyllis and Lucille.
