Makoto looked away, breathing deeply. “Let’s say… something were to happen to me in the near future. You’ll look out for Yukari, right?”
Mitsuru crossed her arms. “...Where is this coming from, Makoto?”
“Nothing. It’s just a thought,” Makoto said, finally meeting her in the eye. He tried to ignore the concern seizing her expression. “Well?”
For ten years, Makoto has been haunted by premonitions of death.
Now, the day is January 30th, and his dread has only grown more pronounced. Unable to face Yukari, he's isolated himself even from her. With each step toward Iwatodai Dorm, he barrels toward confrontation.
And yet, Makoto is all too aware that telling Yukari the truth would destroy her.

Then, she asked a different question. “This is probably gonna sound weird, but do I know you?” Makoto pointed at himself for about half a second before he remembered that he was the only other person in the hallway. Takeba then followed up, “you just seem really familiar, but I can’t tell why.”
“I don’t think we’ve met” He tilted his head and really stared at her for a moment. “You do look familiar.” He added. “But I think I would remember meeting you.”
(In which Makoto Yuki is an idiot in love, and also a time traveler. It takes him no time to figure out the former one, and a lot of time to figure out the latter.)
